Being a military kid involved in sports is really

Being a military kid involved in sports is really really really hard! But with every discouragement and setback Baruk has stepped up to the challenge. From his Middle School international move without football (they canceled it the year we moved there) to a missed highschool season because of a new assignment (HELLO 3 moves in 4 years of High School), from learning (another) new offense to (yet again) gaining trust of coaches and teammates, from persevering through disappointments to pursuing excellence despite discouragement, we have watched our boy battle it out in his heart, mind and on the field. I could not be more proud of him!! Each time I watch him play I am a wreck. My whole heart is out there on the field. ❤️

THANK YOU Mascoutah, and especially Coach Hilgy, for welcoming us with open arms!!!💜 We have fallen in love with this special team. 🏈 (Speaking of setbacks and discouragement, my youngest, during his first football season ever, broke his ankle. 😭 But that’s another story for another day.)

Happy birthday to the love of my life and my soulmate!! You are a man who makes a difference in so many lives!! 🥰 This year has been a wild, discouraging ride. But we enter into the next with more love for each other and our beautiful community. Oh, and this year we became a pickleball family. So we ended the night playing against our kiddos. My heart could burst with love because of our sweet blessings. ❤️ Happy Birthday, Ben!

This vacation was blissfully weird!! With only two

This vacation was blissfully weird!! With only two of our five kids available for our July 4th beach vacation, Ben and I were left in an unique space of living and loving. And since teens like their parents in very small doses, especially when they are with all their cousins (see previous post), Ben and I often found ourselves reading under a beach umbrella in the afternoon, or getting boardwalk ice cream late at night. Also, much to our teens chagrine, we stole as many kisses as possible while they were around. 😘 It grossed them out 😂 but I want them to see a sacrificial husband and adoring wife who still have the spark. ❤️ He’s been my end game since day one! ❤️

I’m sitting on the sidelines, but my heart is on the field. When my boy was 4, and too young to play football, he put on an old helmet and sat on the sidelines watching every minute of his big brother’s practice. When he was 6 the coaches made him QB because he was the only kid who consistently knew his left from his right.😂 This summer he is all over the Midwest at recruiting events. 🏈 Can you say a little prayer that doors will open and doors will close and lead him to where God wants him for college? ❤️

I’m in this new phase of life where I can drop a

I’m in this new phase of life where I can drop a minivan packed with teens off at Six Flags and have a day date with my man. I’m certainly not hating this season! But as each kid finds their own freedom, a large piece of me goes with them.

This leaves me feeling a little gutted, a bit vulnerable and empty-handed, like a King without his clothes.

Yet despite the tinge of sadness that my kids don’t need me to tote snacks and give high-fives after each roller-coaster, I’m finding joy in the metamorphosis, this rebuilding of what home looks like and what God has purposed for this season.

If you are in this shifting season as well, maybe we should entreat our loving Father, “what do you want of me?” Our time used to be largely driven our children’s needs, but as this changes we have some decisions to make! ❤️

On this Memorial Day we remember the men and women

On this Memorial Day we remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. My Dad’s father was a WWII & Korean War vet. Following Korea, he qualified as a test pilot and while at Pax River Naval Air Test Center was killed testing new take off configurations on a Navy jet. My Dad was 5. 💔 Thank you to those who served and gave their lives. 🇺🇸 ❤️
